The Old Clock and Beyond : Navigating in Multidimensional Space (The Old Clock and Beyond Series Book 2)
About
After the world’s first time machine was revealed to the world in a global summit of leading scientists and spiritual leaders, the attendees identified many issues which needed to be resolved to preserve and improve mankind’s future. The time machine could play a vital role in sorting out fact from fiction in past events which created the background for today’s issues. It also could play an important role in expanding the world’s understanding of the universe, particularly since it was discovered that the time machine was also a teleportation device.
For many decades leading space exploration programs were conducted to gather information about our celestial neighbors regarding possible colonization by Earthlings. The lunar landings of the 1960s and 1970s were the “giant leaps for mankind” which opened a small door to what is possible. However, even with many advances in rocket propelled spaceships, the vast distances between planets and galaxies have thwarted the efforts to land men and women on our second closest planet, Mars. Fortunately, the space/time machine discovered by a Texas family in their old grandfather clock has opened not only our solar system but well beyond that to the vast reaches of the universe.
The search for inhabitable planets and/or their satellites eventually identified Mars has the best candidate for a possible human colony although it did not meet even the minimum requirements for sustaining human life. It’s carbon dioxide atmosphere does not support animal life; it’s thin atmosphere cannot prevent meteoroids or solar and cosmic radiation from bombarding the Martian surface; and there is very little arable land and water anywhere on the planet. Nonetheless, the United States and its international space exploration partners decided to attempt to explore and hopefully colonize Mars before the end of the 21st century. Without the capability of fast transportation provided by the teleporter this goal would be impossible.
As the mission grew on Mars, many of man’s questions about the universe began to be answered after many centuries of asking, “Are we alone?”
